Music Blogs and Piracy Issues.

Hey people!
I want to take some time and discuss a topic which is quite important to me. The reason I bring this up is quite a funny incident that happened to our good friend PurePat.

The other day PurePat recieved quite a funny Myspace mail from The Clubbers,
the production duo consisting of Thomas Schwarz and Fausto Fanizza. The mail stated boldly:

-Try to upload our tracks on zippyshare again and I’ll come to cut your balls off!

It’s worth remembering that PurePat blog was the one that created a huge wave of hype for Schwartz’ “Neptune Rising” in june by posting a video of a female DJ playing the track at some open air boat party. The video was spread all over blogosphere and recieved lots of response from club kids all over Europe. Let’s face it, we are talking free PR here, considering that PurePat blog has zero commercial adds.

The answer to the mail above was a sarcastic one in a very polish way:
-Sorry, I don’t exactly understand, you prefer other server? =D

The answer was less fun:
-Yes, I prefer the whole of your mother FIGLIO DE PUTTANA

Ok. let’s break it down once and for all:

1. I state that serious music bloggers create hype for the artists, drawing mass attention to their music which make the DJs and producers bigger and more popular. Expanding the scene. Good examples are John Dahlbäck, Audible and Ashley Wallbridge. Blogs such as GoBananaz!, Missing Toof and Discobelle are especially good at promoting less known artists. Respect!

2. The blog readers are usually club kids that love the music and download tracks to their Ipod and play it to each other. They are the type of consumer who would never buy the vinyl or the original track on beatport anyway, and also the consumer who indirectly dictates what’s hot and what’s not. Last but not least, the clubbers are the ones who pay for the event tickets.

3. Serious DJs (I sign myself and Ridge to this category) do pay for all the music we play at clubs, partly to make sure to get high quality tracks, partly to support the artists and their labels. Lately we are getting huge loads of promos to our email housemusicwithlove@gmail.com but that’s a different story.

4. All the zippyshare and speedyshare links we post come from dodgy Russian forums (no offence to the Russians). Usually we recieve a mail or a comment saying “check out this new remix by EDX, it’s massive”. If we like it, we post it. The only tracks I’ve been uploading lately are old vinyl bombs that are nowhere to be found in mp3 format and that nobody cares about anymore.

5. We respect all the artists and as the disclaimer states, if somebody by some reason is unhappy with a link on this page, just tell us. It will be gone in no time.

Ok? Let it sink.

Finally a big shout out to all the artists who send us mixtapes, promos and thoughts. Even bigger shout out to all the bloggers, producers, event organizers and promoters who work their asses off for the love of music. Let’s work together! Complete the circle!

Discussion is welcome and let’s hope that The Clubbers email accident was nothing else but an accident. I you’re are a music blogger, producer or a clubber and either feel us or hate us, please give your thoughts in the comments.

You want some music?
No music today. No cute girls either.
….But some massive promos tomorrow night.
Check out the screens from The Clubbers incident:

Peace and Love!

Italian bomb from Roberto Varano

Wazzup clubkidz!

If you are from Italy, Roberto Varano needs no further introduction. He’s been spinning house in Rome’s finest clubs since 1983. Same goes to London where he’s been resident at phat venues all over the inner city since 1990. That’s not all though. Catching the producer bug a year ago, Roberto have been locked up in the studio droping bomb after bomb with godspeed.

Best of all, he like to share his music with the bloggers, and prefers earning his living through gigs rather than fighting about copyright rights.

Here is the latest remix:
Kemal Feat Foxxee – City Street Walking (Varano Introspektive K – Mix) (320)
City street walking, walking the streets….yeah yeah.

BTW, check out Mr P’s new fresh house blog: ZanginHUS!

Peace & Love!

Ladies and Gentlemen!

If you digg commercial house, this is a mixtape for you. Dj Junior is not as unexperienced as the name might suggest. Does this guy ever sleep? Probably not. The mixtape is impressive. Shout if you need a link to La Sagrada Familia. Kaballah Brazil is even better by the way.

Push

Check out this dancefloor bomb from Austria. And keep an eye on Joaquin Phunk. After the hit ElectroBitch released 2007 on Elmart records he is back with Push. Yet unreleased but with a baseline to die for. Out on beatport this autumn. I think it will do very well.

Peace!

Funky Disco Shit from Sweden

Hey party people!

Today I’m gonna open the huge box of promos that we have been saving up and share some of the pearls with you. Living in Sweden, I must promote my fellow countrymen, especially the ones making really good music.

HouseClap is a a talanted producer duo coming from a small place you never heard of. Their first released track is called Happy Happy Happy! and features some heavy soulful acapella. If you like funk you gonna love this. The track was released on september the 2nd on Juno and is doing quite well on the list. You can find all the remixes here.

I also digg their remix of the Madonna 1982 hit everybody. It’s oldschool, chicago and funky. Move your feet will ya?

Madonna – Everybody (HouseClap Remix)

Finally another funky remix of Joey Negro’s Sunburst Band – Rough times by my main man Chris Tall from Lund. The geezer have been locked up in his studio for quite a while now so make sure to keep your eye on this one. If you like commercial house that is.

Peace & lots of love!

Eric Prydz – Afraid of flying

No worries mates. It’s not a new track. Or you would already heard the rumors.

Rather an interesting fact about the Sweden’s number one DJ and producer. Few people know that Mr Prydz is not very keen of flying (airplanes that is). More specifically, it completely scares the shit out of him.

This Saturday Eric was supposed to play in Malta for the first time ever. At a massive 4000+ event at Gianpula, one of the island’s most hi-tech clubs. The plan was to load Eric and the crew on the train and get him all the way to Milan to minimize his airtime.

To the huge disappointment of the 4000 Maltese party goers who payed 20-55 EUR for their tickets, Prydz did not show up. According to the official organizers of the event, Eric experienced a heavy panic attack before stepping on the plane in Milan. The medications did not do it this time. According to our contacts, the party was still a blast. But except for being hangover, the whole Malta was also very pissed off the whole Sunday. Some people still are.

So, we call out to you, our dear readers. Does anyone know about a scientifically proved treatment to cure flying anxiety? If yes, let’s start a donation circle “Bloggers petition to cure Eric”. A 10 EUR a head is more than enough to pay for the treatment. Well, and the train ticket.

Big thanks to PurePat for the tip

P.S. Sunday mixtape is a bit late due to technical problems in Stockholm. Stay tuned

Small places, big news

I’m not sure that this is a good spot to promote parties in Malmö, but since half of our readers are Swedish I might as well give it a go.

Tomorrow is a big day on both sides of Oresund bridge. The Danish Dj collectives CLUB30 and The Happy kids join the forces and throw a massive six-DJ party at Nadsat, Copenhagen. Bacid and Toketronic are in the line up. If you were one of those who couldn’t stop dancing at the CLUB30 last party at Culture Box, you probably don’t wanna miss this one. Facebook.

Malmö on the other hand gets a minor celebrity visit from Henrik Maneuver (Wardrobe records, Berlin) who plays back to back with us! at The Underground late night til 7 a.m. Facebook.

Finally I’m proud to announce that the man with the master plan, Fred Falke, will be spinning the wax in Malmö on Saturday the 13th. More specifically at the Versus club at Jeriko/Babel together with Ali Payami & Oscar Villata. Make sure to check it out if you are close by. Facebook.

So while you guys are deciding where to go or wherethere to visit Sweden or not, I give you a brand new track from a Stockholm production duo – Instrumentalos. It has a funky Mexican feeling to it.

Instrumentalos – Bullfighting

Tommorow some heavy tracks from our new blogger.
Peace & Love!

Artist interview: Fine Taste

Fine Taste is definitely one of the most exciting artists out there today. Their production is always rock solid and the beats jumpy, you simply can’t sit/stand still. Fine Taste consists of Freek Geuze and Johan Vermeulen, and is one of many aliases; Chunk & Twist, Global Illumination, Frisky Warlock (Freek), Smartminds (Freek), Interplay (Johan) and more. I’ve had the priveledge to talk to Mr. Geuze.

Tell us a bit about yourself, man. When and how did you start making music?
I’m Freek Geuze. I’m 22 years old and I started making music at the age of 4 on the piano. At 11 I started to produce electronic music with Impulse Tracker (God bless impulse tracker) and then on more advanced stuff like Reason, Cubase, name it.. And now still going strong..

I dare to say that most electonic musicians nowadays use exclusively software for production, are you guys down with the software, hardware or maybe both?
The only hardware I have is my PC!

What programs and synths etc. do you use?
Like I said I mostly use Reason, Cubase and sometimes Acid Pro, Cooledit Pro.

Guide us through the general process how you make a track?
Get inspiration. I can’t tell you how to get that, but its about the feeling when you think: now it’s time to make a new track. Mostly when things go right I put down every other thing to get it finished as soon as possible.

You and Johan have been working apart quite a lot now, how do you think this will affect the future Fine Taste sound?
I dunno.. I think it wont affect it at all actually. We make a lot of music but because we don’t live together (doh) we hardly don’t finish the snippets. Only the remixes we finish, because we’re committed to do that.

While Johan goes more cheesy progressive house on his own with Interplay, you seem to choose the more trancy sound. Would you say that your styles are equally weighted in your combined sound of Fine taste?
I dunno.. I wont call my style trancy actually, there are a lot of banging techhouse tunes from me coming up on for example Spinnin’ Records and Kitchy Recordings. Watch out for them! I’m not really into one style, I just do everything with the Smartminds alias which I like. Fine Taste is basically Tech-house/Electro-house.

Battery Life is one of the best tracks 2007, no doubt. Will we hear more from the pseudonym Chunk & Twist?
Maybe, maybe not.. can’t tell anything about it. ATM they are on a long holiday drinking cocktails at some faraway beach… ;-)

In the club, do you guys prefer to play live or DJ, and what equipment would you choose?
We prefer to Dj atm. Maybe later there will be some live elements, but its important to get into the Dj-thing first.

How does the future look for Fine Taste?
Let’s hope it looks bright. Its in our own hands mostly, so we have to take care for it!

Are you able to live off your music? If not, what do you do on the side?
No, I study next to it (Human Resource Development). It’s always nice to get a fee or an advance, but its not that much hehe. Most money should come from Dj-gigs.

Thanks man, and good luck!
Thanks for the interview, always appreciate the attention! Cheers!

Winds of change

Our blog is evolving faster than a new Stockholm fashion hype. When we started this “just for fun” project in the end of 2007, we had no idea we would end up here. Meanwhile today, this project still feels completely “just for fun” and like there is still a long journey ahead. First of all I want to give a huge shout out to Mr P, the original author of Cause Me Pain House project that, after changing names a couple of tymes became the blog you are reading at the moment. Mr P is leaving us to concentrate his energy on his recently started business studies while running his own houseclub from January 2009. We wish him all the best and hope that he will be droping guest posts once in a while.

At the same time we are in the middle of a growth process. At the moment we are recruiting a couple of new bloggers, who will introduce themselfs soon enough. We are all over the Myspace. And for our readers we are preparing an autumn filled with exclusives and bombs: A Fine Taste Interview, A Starchaser Interview, exclusive review of an upcoming album from Om Records plus lot’s of tracks you’ve never heard before.

Finally, I’d like to give it up to everyone who supported us throughout the year, especially Mr P, PurePat, eXmodia Crew, Underground Malmö, Shake Me, John Dahlbäck, Tocadisco, Chris Reece, Ceeril Clein, Thomas Regnault, Sebastian Gudding, Dj Nowakowski & Audible, Don & Palm and everyone we forgot to mention . And…….Stay tuned!

P.S. Thanks to exModia, we now have a Soundcloud right here on the right. Send us your tracks. We get tons and tons of promos, but promise to listen to them all. =D
