Mr Head Honcho of European techno – Gregor Tresher passed through our beloved city of Malmö 2 weeks ago, leaving nothing but burn-marks on the walls of our favorite club and a promo copy of his fresh-out-of-the-studio album in our mailbox.

The new album is a sweet blend of laidback, suggestive techno, make-you-sweat club tracks and a couple of vocal expeditions into Gregor’s song-writing skills.  Here is Escape to Amsterdam – a free track that goes straight down into our dj-case under “3 a.m. and onward” category.

8 years after the release, new rumours flourish about Daft Punk having produced the entire Discovery (2001) album using a built-in Nintendo sampler. Julia Milan, Thomas Bangalter personal house maid during 1999 – 2003, claims that most of the so called studio time during the Discovery production was spent playing around with this sampling software for Nintendo-Ds. She further explains that Thomas picked-up a Japanese version of DS pocket console when returning home from a yoga summit in Tokyo in late 2000, that he got incredibly hooked on the simplicity of the software and eventually decided to use it for the entire album.

Hell yeah!

As some of our creative and amazing readers pointed out a couple of days ago, we should supply tracks by means of Spotify. For those few of you who haven’t heard of Spotify, it’s an amazing (and free) music streaming service. Their catalogue is way above the standard one would expect from a free service. If you do not have access to this service, get it here! (You’ll need an invitation, though).

Anyways, I’m compiling two playlists – one for the softer part of the electronic music spectrum and one more energetic. It is not an attempt of a complete catalogue of all the brilliant electronic music avaliable, nor is it an attempt to share the latest tracks, but is intended as a pool of great music; no more, no less. I will be the only one with permission to add and remove tracks, and the will always be added from the bottom. I will not change the order of tracks. All good tracks from a specific artist, however brilliant, will not be added, as artists like The Prodigy or Amon Tobin would flood the lists; I will simply choose the, in my opinion, best tracks. Both classics and new upcomers will be represented.

I probably won’t present the tracks with comments on the blog, as that would be a bit excessive, wouldn’t it. What do you guys think? Feedback and suggestions on the lists are always warmly welcome.

Top of the club charts or not. I-m-h-o the new David Guetta album - One Love is a wild mash-up of Hip-hop, Pop and R’n'b masked by a see-through cover of 63 kick drums and 126 high-hats a minute. No wonder that he spends equal amounts of time talking about the tracks in the DJ-booth as actually playing them. No wonder that his songs are being played by The Voice of Hip Hop and R’n'B in Sweden.

My favorite Guetta track is still The World is Mine that came out back in 2004 including  few playable versions (without those two minute breaks that can put any dance-floor to sleep). Our main troublemakers from Houston, Texas – Dj Red and Josh Dupont turn this Guetta classic into a new-school, face-lifted electro banger.

Finally. Nöjesguiden, Sweet Fred and a bunch of other creative people are occupying (probably without any permission what so ever) the Willys supermarket basement for one night only, turning it into a proper old-school Rave. The king of underground Techno – Martinez himself – will be flown in in a golden helicopter, just to parachute straight down into the DJ-booth when the clock strikes 2 past midnight. Big up.

1989 – An important milestone in the history of House and Garage.

1989. Detroit. Kevin Saunderson teams up with the singer Paris Grey to start a music project. A project to be called Inner City.  The rest is history.  Inner City totalled 6 million copies sold mainly thanks to the debute album, that contained tracks such as Big Fun, Good Life and Set Your Body free. Tracks that, even today, make us to drop whatever we are doing and smile a wide smile of nostalgia every time the local Radio Dj decides to digg up this 20-year old wild-card.

Mr Ant Brooks certainly knows the history of good house and makes an un-official re-edit of Big Fun. And here you are. Now, twenty years later, you can play it during the peak hour on your dancefloor without feeling like a grandpa.
