Lovely news!

Groove Armada will release a new full-lengther in Feb, which would be their sixth (if I counted correctly). The british blokes, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, have soothing our ears and lives for decades right about now. This is how Andy describes the new sound: “We could’ve knocked out an album of reggae-influenced house bangers and a couple of chill-out tunes, and that would’ve been a much easier life,” explains Andy. “But we needed a new challenge. Neither of us was interested in just repeating ourselves.”

At HMWL, we are naturally absolutely thrilled out of our skin to hear such news. Absolutely marvellous! Here is the new video. And it is, as Andy pointed pout, a new sound. Regardless of if we hate or love it.

One more time.

The last year’s most requested track is back on HMWL and this time in a permanent direct-download format! Beirut Disco is the sweetest white-rabbit like bouncy track. It features a broken organ and some lovely percussions and makes you wanna dance naked in the sun. And the best thing is – it fits perfected in your best house or techno set. Just drop it after a peak tune and watch the whole dancefloor lighten up with smiling faces. The track is timeless. Enjoy!

Beirut Disco samples a whole lot of vocals (both song and talkapella), the harmonica, the organ and some percussion from the original song by a New York based Indie Folk band called…..you guessed it….Beirut. No wonder Beirut Disco was released as a limited vinyl-only batch.

Sanna La Fleur Engdahl needs no further introduction these days.  The only thing we wonder is how she manages her time without loosing to much sleep. Working as a co-hostess of Swedish Radio P3 Dans while being constantly on a road DJ:ing both on her own and as a part of the Housewifes duo must be kinda energy consuming. Additionally, she’s got some super-magic brew cooking in her studio downtown in East Berlin. French people are mad. They talk gibberish, eat tons of white bread and do not pick up the shit after their dogs. The last promo bundle we received further clarifies the fact that Frenchmen are completely and utterly insane.

Jeff Lasson drops a 12″ white label vinyl containing three mad edits. First track is “The Dreamer” with a spoke-a-pella taken from a french movie soundtrack. Next out is a downtempo, dubbish revise of 80’s classic “Under the Vice”. And finally my favorite – an instrumental re-edit of Valery Alington’s “Stop”. This is some mad tribalist Italo Disco with pure groove. Watch out for the bass kick at 1:50

Enjoying the gray and Novemberish monday? I sure do. A lot thanks to this tech house gem that was promo’ed to us via e-mail. Sweet! Florida based Craig Heneveld has been producing and DJ’ing since around 2002; he has been touring around the states and won numerous competitions. No wonder. Listen to this and you’ll understand why (well, really, the crafts of DJ’ing and production are far apart; despite of this, empirically, there seems to be a high correlation between high quality of the art forms).

I just found two lovely tracks in our bottomless promo-mailbox (info[at]hmwl.org). Rosa Lux – one of Copenhagens underground DJs finally drops her first track. Ven Igen (Friend again in Danish) featuring Rosa’s own vocals is one dark, laidback and melancholic story – a perfect tune for dark aumumn evenings. It reminds me a lot of Silcone Souls Dark Dub versions as well as Djuma Soundsystem hypnotic productions.

Ven Igen will be out in late November on Copenhagens Nithology records including Rune Rk, Peter Patrick and Ruby remixes. Already receiving full support from Trentemøller, Djuna Barnes and Kjeld Tolstrup.

This is definitely my cup of tea this time of the year. Big Up!
