HMWL: Who are Motormännen?
Motormännen: Two guys in their 30-ish living in Stockholm, both being a bit too interested in technology and music. We see ourselves as technopatriarchy’s anti-reaction to the society’s declining interest for RCA-cables, bitrates and heavy machines.

HMWL: What inspires you to your music production process?
Motormännen: The Motormännen project is inspired, among other things, by early electro, german decadent minimal, SVEK, older guys with technological hobbies and above all retrofuturistic skeptisism.

HMWL: How would you discribe your music, is it political techno or psycodelic electonica?
Motormännen: Definetely political techno, and technological romanticism.

2012 was the year of 80s drum machines, ocean-deep bass lines and the bloke called Maceo Plex. And everyone else who imitated his sound. The average BPM lost a 10 beats per minute, so even the most lazy clubbers would be able to nod along. Was it just us, or did the club culture become more grown up? With Tron Legacy selling out full theaters the Daft Punk is once again hotter than ever. (The french spacemen suit wearing duo are responsible for the OST and also make a short appearence in the motion picture itself).

The Sour Grapes are three Swedish Gentlemen known, when picked appart, as Aleks Patz, Alex Caytas and Tom Liljegren. Most people following this blog are aware that the Grapes were signed to Chris Lakes labels Rising Music thanks to a bunch of tracks they droped in late spring/early summer. Some of their tracks a pure genius, some are a bit cheezy. But hey, that’s my subjective point of view.

Lee Coombs, one of the tech house and breaks pioneers is back with his third studio album. The full-lengther contains a bunch of fresh-out-of-the-oven productions, but also a showcase of Lee’s selected tracks from 2009 and late 2008.

Lee himself describes the album as Tech-Funk – a fine blend of techno, funk, breaks and electro. Light & Dark album is out on LOT49. Get it here
