Dj Skyjacker presents top charts 2012 [House/Deep House]

301126_10151065133239751_116237447_n

2012 was the year of 80s drum machines, ocean-deep bass lines and the bloke called Maceo Plex. And everyone else who imitated his sound. The average BPM lost a 10 beats per minute, so even the most lazy clubbers would be able to nod along. Was it just us, or did the club culture become more grown up? Moving from dark basements to lunch-beats, daytime parties in the park and a sunday afternoon straight edge clubs. It was a year of DIY Vinyl labels, Club Mate and H20.

Winner of Hacienda 30 Pioneer RMX competition – Karan Luthra

It takes a while to listen through and discuss 8 mix-sets. All of the mixes submitted to our Hacienda 30 competition were of top notch quality.

All in all one winner has to be selected and the 1st place goes to Karan Luthra. A local dj hero that managed to build up a solid funky groove after just two tracks and keeps the mix alive, evor-evolving and oh so groovy and phat throughout the whole 30 minutes. With a nice creme-de-la-creme finish delivered by Karan’s very own bootleg remix of Djuma Soundsystem – Les Djiins.

Karan just got himself … Continue…

Maya Jane Cole – No Sympathy (Djuma Soundsystem Remix)

Djuma Soundsystem’s signature sound and Maya Jane Cole’s voice blends in so well together, this remix is a given success. Flawlessly, Mikka’s guides Maya’s delightfully deep and dreamy voice through ‘No Sympathy’ in the sophisticated manner that has become so significant. Soulful with a clear emphasis on the solid beats.

Neither Maya nor Djuma Soundsystem needs no further introduction by now, a collaboration between the two of them feels only natural, and has undoubtedly proved to be a winning combination!

‘No Sympathy’ is now out on indie dance music label Elite Records, give it a listen here

Umek – Profile Lost (Djuma Soundsystem Remixes) + 3rd Dimension of Soundz

Djuma Soundsystem unveils the 3rd compilation on the legendary Soundz label. Including a preview of the remix package of Umeks Profile Lost.

Once again a solid release from the Slovenian master of tunes and straight up fantastic remixwork done by Djuma Soundsystem! After 2 minutes you’re completely stuck. The marimba like leading rhythm on the groove is simply enchanting and sends such a warm fuzzy feeling up the spine. To say that it’s hypnotic would be to put it mildly since it’s the kind of groove you can listen to forever and ever. Every sound is spot on and both … Continue…

Support your local DJ heroes: Djuma Soundsystem to pay 100 000€ for a ten second sample

Our favourite danes are in trouble. Djuma Soundsystem are rulled to pay a wopping amount of 747 182 Danish kronas (100 000 €) fine for copyright infringement. It turnes out that their signature track Les Djinns (2006) contain a ten second sample of a somewhat less known track by Atilla Engin called Turkish Showbiz.

The original Atilla Engin was released back in the 1986 and the current copyright owner is by court decision entitled to 84% of Djuma Royalties. As the music industry is today, where everyone samples everyone, this sounds like a bad joke. Especially the whopping amount to be payed. How the 84% of … Continue…

HMWL Podcast 22 – Flip (Black & White Orange , Toolroom, DK)

House Music With Love Podcast 22 – Flip

Flip is responsible for giving birth to the underground classic This Sound in 2008 together with his danish partners in crime – Djuma Soundsystem. Neverless, he’s not another one hit wonder DJ. The underground classic was followed up by a number of solo releases on Black & White Orange and Toolroom’s Leaders of The New School. His latest releases do not receive as much hype as The Sound but certainly carry some techy precessional vibes that we like so much and hope to hear more off.
