Nick Curly – Between the Lines review and interview [Cecille - March 2012]

If you ever complain that being an electronic DJ/Producer in 2012 is too much work, make sure to benchmark against Nick Curly. Except for co-running two of the 2011′s most praised labels (Cecille and 8-bit) he also manages to deliver new top 10 track on almost monthly basis to Cocoon and to make a bunch of remixes for Soma, Liebe Detail ans Sci+Tec. And now finally, after a few years of anticipation to prepare a full length debut album to be released on Cecille in the middle of march. And it does sound quite great!

Henry Saiz Interview

I am so excited! I have longed for so long to present one of the most exciting artists of this past and present decade: Henry Saiz. This Spanish matador popped up from practically nowhere with a remix for Global Underground and was later handpicked by John Digweed to remix his epic ‘Gridlock’. He has within just a couple of years from his entrance to the scene released on Renaissance, Global Underground, Bedrock, Ultra, Hope etc. I don’t blame the label directors; this guy does magic tricks. I have never heard such an innovation and development within tracks – the tracks … Continue…

Jody Wisternoff (Way Out West) Interview

Well, here we have him, British Jody Wisternoff, one half of Way Out West (the other being Nick Warren). These blokes have been around since the dawn of times, or at least since the dawn of the early 90s. Way Out West released their forth studio album ‘We Love Machine’ at the end of last year, a long anticipated album, and followed up with a remix compilation ‘We Love Machine – The Remixes’ last week, with remixes by Henry Saiz, Eelke Kleijn (whose remix we had the pleasure to introduce last week), Guy J, D. Ramirez, Jaytech and others. It … Continue…

Eelke Kleijn Interview

Folks! As you’ve noticed, I assume, HMWL is pushing interviews hard. All for your sweet loving pleasure. Well, here is one which we’ve been aching to share with you; today we present none other than Eelke Kleijn. This dutch master has been add it for many years now, despite his young age. But not until fairly recently, he rose stromg on the scene. And with pondus! In 2003, he released his first EP ’4.5 Billion Years’, which received imitiate attention from John Digweed and Seb Fontaine. Talk about acceleration! Continued on Baroque with ’8-Bit Era’ a while later, and now … Continue…

D-Nox interview

With this redundantly large image I would like to introduce D-Nox. Yes, folks, it is him. The Man, The Myth, The king of progressive house! This guy’s been around forever, and with his own two hands (often plus Beckers’ two) influenced the house scene dramatically, by almost literally spraying beautifully deep and well-produced tracks all over us. And we love it. This chap has been spinning records since 1992, and owns and administrates Sprout Records and the sub-label Plastik Park. Alongside he’s constantly touring the world, playing on all continents (incl. Antarctica). Lucky for us, he had some spare time, which

Snake Sedrick interview

Snake Sedrick is a busy and very experienced man! He’s been producing top notch progressive house in his studio in Hungary since the age of fast tracker (good times!), as well as running both both record labels Tilth Music and Tilth Music Limited and the DJ booking agency Tilth DJ Agency which rosters Add2basket and Jay Lumen among others. Luckily, HMWL got a chance to talk both music and business with the good man, over a cup of coffee (i.e. Jonas was drinking coffee while mailing).

HMWL:  You produce some of the most captivating progressive grooves available, gorgeously moody and

Guy J interview

Guy J is one of those magic artists, who has no upper limit on the impact and production quality of their tracks. They are very few, and Guy J is most certainly one of them. The demand of his productions has increased exponentially over time; after releasing a string of killer singles, Guy J released his first full-lengther ‘Esperanza’ on John Digweed’s legendary Bedrock Records in 2008, which took the progressive house, and techno, communities with storm. Not strange, as ‘Esperanza’ has an absolutely stunningly beautiful and warm sound, yet powerful, and new details is discovered each time you listen. The … Continue…
