Aleks Patz and Alex Caytas are the two Sweeds who are completely on fire at the moment. Foremost known as two thirds of the Sour Grapes of the Chris LakesRising Music posse, but to be honest with you the Sour Grapes sound, despite always being circus rope tight, never quite made me go “Ohhah!”. Since two days, there is a new musical constellation in the sky of Denmark. Greenville Massive is two child-hood friends / producers by the names Jesper Zebitz and Simon Knøsgaard. It certainly feels like that they have been scoping up the influences both from the deep mystic basslines of Booka Shade and crisp synthesizers of Kraftwerk before finally unleashing it all into their debut EP – Heute Nacht out on Soul Sheep. Or as the guys themselves put it – ”We make music from the heart”
The second Ep from the new Noir collection Darkstar Stars vol. 4 contatins our favorite tune of the bunch.
A lot of the Noir tracks can be a tad to “cheesy” but this one strikes a good balance between immediate impact and integrity. Clean heavy percussion with a rappid cowbell (triangel?) upping the percieved energy while the reverb effects and bassline maintains a certain feeling of depth troughout the track. Ad a couple of small breaks and the male vocal snippets scattered along the way and you have solid steppingstone towards peaktime material. It will probably be forgotten within a … Continue…
