Today Spotify introduced an HTML 5 widget that allows anyone to embed a playlist, a track or an album into their website. Pressing the play button in the web widget triggers the playlist or a single song in the Spotify Desktop client.

This means that artists will be able to embed their albums and EPs into their webpages. Booking and management agencies websites will soon be soon showing off playlists with latest tracks by their artists & Djs. Ableton Live celebrates their new “share to soundcloud” feature by providing a free Soundcloud Pro with 36 hours of upload space to all the Ableton 8 users.

The two Berlin based companies have more in common than you think. After all, the original Soundcloud seed finance included Christophe Maire and Peter Schuepbach – the founding fathers of Ableton.

Soundcloud is probably the best thing that happened to the online end of the electronic music scene since Myspace. The fact, that more and more musicians store their music on the cloud, also benefits the music blogosphere. Most of you guys hanging out on Hmwl.org must agree that the soundcloud player is the sweetest thing for listening and downloading tracks compared to the Music Repostory Services 1.0 such as zippyshare, speedyshare, zshare, etc.

(Personally, I don’t believe that Myspace will last to see 2011, unless they make some major useability changes. And that – NOW)

Hey folks!

I’ve been strolling ’round on Soundcloud searching for gems, as I intend to do about once a week or so. It’s actually hard to find good music there, much harder than on beatport, since skill-less home producers flood the site with awful music. I’ll do the hard work for you, finding the diamonds; they will all be added to soundcloud within the month. Some are known, some unknown, but they are all great.
